Massive immigration raid in Colorado: US police smash nightclub window to arrest over 100; videos go viral, Trump celebrates victory

In a tense and dramatic operation early Sunday, over 100 immigrants believed to be in the US illegally were arrested after a huge federal raid at an after-hours club in Colorado Springs. The raid, which involved over 300 police officers and agents from several federal agencies, was aimed at the club after months of investigation into its suspected links to drug trafficking, prostitution, and violent crime.
The raid played out in dramatic fashion, with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) releasing gory video footage of agents encircling the building and ordering patrons to exit with their hands up.
As agents broke a window to enter, pandemonium broke out within the club.
Other videos, quickly going viral on the web, depicted dozens of people running through the entrance of the club as federal agents stormed in, making on-the-spot arrests of dozens of people. By the time the operation was over, many suspects were paraded in handcuffs, lined up on the sidewalk, waiting to be taken to detention.
The raid: How it happened
The raid occurred around 5 am Sunday (local time), with federal agents swooping down on the nightclub, which had been under investigation for years.
The club, in Colorado Springs — the state’s second-largest city, some 70 miles south of Denver — had become infamous for its illicit activities. US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) was brought in to take the arrested people into custody, as the DEA announced that cocaine, guns, and other contraband were seized during the operation.
Jonathan Pullen, head of the DEA’s Rocky Mountain Division, characterized the raid as an essential move toward eradicating harmful criminal activity in the city. “Colorado Springs awakens this morning to a safer community today,” Pullen said at a news conference. His statement matched the relief expressed by law enforcement authorities, who had been investigating the club for months.
There were at least 200 individuals in the nightclub when it was raided, Pullen added. Among those arrested were a dozen active-duty military members, some of whom had been employed as armed security or were merely customers at the club. “When the police arrived at the door, most of the drugs went to the floor,” Pullen said, underscoring again the enormity of the bust. Several patrons were also taken into custody on outstanding warrants, though Pullen refused to release more information regarding the suspects’ identities or the nations from which they originated.
The viral video: An unsettling snapshot of a nation divided
The raid’s viral video, now being shared far and wide on social media, has reached an audience of millions. Its brutal imagery, agents barging into the nightclub, breaking up windows, and taking dozens into custody, has heated up heated debate.
Some claim that this is an essential step in fighting the risks created by illegal activity, while others are alarmed at the implications of such a sweeping, intrusive crackdown.
The Trump connection
Sunday’s action is the newest installment in President Donald Trump’s hardline approach to immigration enforcement.
During his second term, Trump has spearheaded an unprecedented surge against unlawful immigration, led by his administration’s theatrical exercise of executive power.
With a hand at detaining foreign students to limiting border crossings, Trump’s policies have intensified tensions in both legal and political communities, including confrontations with federal judges who’ve sought to stop some of his more radical initiatives.
In a rare departure from his usual bravado, Trump resorted to his social media site, Truth Social, to bask in the glory of the success of the raid. “A big Raid last night on some of the worst people illegally in our Country — Drug Dealers, Murderers, and other Violent Criminals, of all shapes and sizes,” Trump posted, sharing a link to the viral video clips of the thrilling operation.

.

The DEA’s video, which features agents in full tactical gear, raiding the nightclub with loudspeakers shouting orders for people to leave, quickly went viral and elicited mixed reactions. Some praised it as a necessary action to restore law and order, while others condemned the raid as excessive in scale and as unfairly targeting undocumented people.
In the video, the pandemonium within the club, with customers running out and agents moving in, was visceral, a vivid contrast to the nation’s continuing struggle with illegal immigration.
What’s happening now: Arrests and deportation threats loom
Throughout the day, officials continued to process those rounded up in the raid. ICE officers are currently deciding who among them might be deported, but many are left in the dark about their futures.
This is not the first such action on Trump’s watch, and it won’t probably be the last.
Recent moves, such as the short-term suspension of deportations for certain individuals under the Alien Enemies Act, indicate that the court fights over immigration enforcement are only just beginning.
While ICE has not specified the countries of origin for those detained, the operation is being viewed as a major part of the Trump administration’s ongoing effort to combat illegal immigration, particularly through aggressive tactics aimed at high-profile criminal operations. The sweeping nature of the raid raises broader questions about the future of immigration policy and enforcement across the country.

Axis Bank, Tech Mahindra & more: Top stocks on brokers' radar for April 28

Morgan Stanley has an ‘overweight’ rating on Axis Bank with a target price of Rs 1,300. Analysts said the bank’s earnings remained subdued with loan and deposit growth muted, and gross credit costs (ex-agriculture) stayed elevated. They said both were largely expected. They also feel that the stock could be under near-term pressure, as the condition could continue for a few more quarters before asset quality turns for the better.
Jefferies has a ‘buy’ rating on SBI Life with the target price at Rs 2,000. Analysts said during the Jan-march quarter, SBI Life’s value of new business growth of 10% on an annualised basis to Rs 1,700 surprised positively aided by better product mix and term insurance attachment. The life insurer’s premium (APE) growth was softer at 2% partly due to slower ULIPs and efforts to improve mix.
Goldman Sachs has a ‘buy’ rating on SBI Cards with the target price at Rs 1,006. Analysts said SBI Cards’ pre-provision operating profit growth of 4% annually was as per expectation. They also said that the company’s credit costs have finally shown an improvement after seeing an increase consecutively for the last five quarters. They also expect further improvement from FY25 to FY26.
Citigroup has a ‘sell’ call on Tech Mahindra with the target price at Rs 1,265. Analysts said that the IT major delivered a slow Jan-March quarter with revenues below expectation and margins in line. They said that while the management is executing well, expectations are high.
HSBC has a ‘reduce’ call on Rallis India with the target price at Rs 210. Analysts said the company missed estimates across segments during the Jan-March quarter, and domestic pricing pressure is a concern. The company’s business model revamp was commendable but gradual. And challenging conditions persist for the company.

NEET-UG set for May 4 amid steps to foil any malpractice

NEW DELHI: National Testing Agency (NTA) will conduct NEET (Undergraduate) 2025 on Sunday at around 5,500 exam centres across India and abroad, marking a sharp increase from last year’s 4,750 centres spread over 571 cities. This year, the test will be held across 552 cities in India and 14 international locations.
Monitored by the education ministry, 180 central institutions have been entrusted to verify the preparedness of the centres. In some states, such as Assam, following a request from CM Himanta Biswa Sarma, all centres are located in govt-run institutions.
Candidates have been allotted centres based primarily on their first-choice preferences, leading to expansion in several cities. Nearly 90% of the centers are located in govt-run institutions, including Kendriya Vidyalayas, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas, and state govt schools, according to NTA officials.
Meanwhile, the datesheet for CUET-UG 2025, scheduled to commence on May 8, remains pending.
Following paperleak allegations and widespread complaints that marred NEET-UG 2024 , NTA has formed state-level and district-level committees to oversee logistics and security. According to NTA sources, district magistrates (DMs), superintendents of police (SPs), and senior local officials were consulted before finalising exam centers. They, along with district coordinators, will jointly supervise arrangements to ensure seamless conduct.
NTA has also launched a dedicated portal for reporting suspicious activities related to NEET-UG 2025.

Bharat Mata Ki Jai drowns Pakistan Zindabad in London

TOI Correspondent from London: Hundreds of Indian-origin supporters gathered Sunday outside the Indian high commission in London, overwhelming a small protest organised by British Pakistanis aimed at “rejecting Indian propaganda” following the April 22 Pahalgam terrorist attack that left 26 people dead, mostly tourists.
While about 50 people turned up for the Pakistan protest opposite the high commission, hundreds of PIOs (persons of Indian origin) filled the area in front of the mission building. The Indian side, separated by police barricades, displayed a massive Tricolour on the building and used a loudspeaker to outvoice the Pakistani protesters, singing the national anthem and chanting “Jai Shri Ram”, “Vande Mataram”, and “Bharat Mata Ki Jai”. Some could be seen shaking water bottles.
The Pakistani protesters raised slogans against PM Narendra Modi and shouted “Pakistan Zindabad”, but lacked placards and enthusiasm. “This is a disaster,” said a Pakistani journalist on the scene. Mohsin, a protester, claimed the tensions were linked to upcoming assembly elections in Bihar.
“Modi needed this because of the elections in Bihar. They have blamed Pakistan without any investigation,” he said. “There won’t be war,” added Zubair, another protester, claiming that accusations of Pakistani involvement in the Pahalgam massacre lacked proof.
“They can’t stop the water coming to us as they have no dams. They can’t keep the water,” Zubair said, referencing India suspending Indus Waters Treaty in response to the Pahalgam attack.
On the Indian side, some participants waved both Indian and Israeli flags. Dheeraj questioned the motives behind the Pakistani protest: “Why are they even here protesting in front of the India high commission?” Placards held by Indian supporters read “Hafiz Saeed Mastermind 26/11” and “Professionalism at the best sar tan se juda — Pakistan high commission hospitality,” referencing a throat-slitting gesture made Friday.
“They are shamelessly protesting and pretending to be victims,” said Gaurav. Another supporter, Indranil, pointed to economic gains in J&K: “GDP has gone up considerably. Pakistan does not want to see J&K flourish. The terrorists shot men in front of their children. It was a cold-blooded genocide,” he said.
The protests have riled right-wing commentators in UK. Richard Tice, deputy leader of Reform UK, shared a video of the confrontation, writing: “If it’s not Gaza it’s India v Pakistan sectarian politics being fought on our London streets. Chaps this is Britain. Take your national disputes elsewhere.”
Journalist Isabel Oakeshott also posted a video, saying: “Dozens of Met Police are battling to separate Indian and Pakistani protesters as they hurl abuse at each other. UK multiculturalism has been a DISASTER!” GB News aired a segment titled “Has multiculturalism failed?” focusing on the protest.

Israeli fighter jets struck Beirut‘s southern suburbs on Sunday, marking the third attack on the area since a ceasefire took effect in late November.
The strike, which came about an hour after a warning was issued, targeted Hezbollah facilities in the Hadath area, the Israeli military said. Residents were urged to move at least 300 meters away from the site before the attack.
Fighter jets were heard flying over parts of the Lebanese capital before the strike. Gunfire was shot into the air to warn residents to evacuate, causing panic among families.
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun condemned the strike and called on the United States and France to pressure Israel to halt its attacks, warning that continued Israeli actions could destabilise the region.
UN special coordinator for Lebanon Jeanine Hennis also voiced concern, saying the strike had “generated panic and fear of renewed violence” and urged all sides to avoid undermining the fragile ceasefire.
This latest attack follows earlier Israeli strikes on Beirut’s southern suburbs on March 28 and April 1. The April 1 strike, which was unannounced, killed four people, including a Hezbollah official.
Hezbollah’s deputy leader Sheikh Naim Kassem warned that the group might take further action if Israeli attacks continue and Lebanese authorities do not intervene. He also reaffirmed that Hezbollah fighters will not disarm as long as Israeli forces remain in southern Lebanon and continue violating Lebanese airspace.
Under the US-brokered ceasefire that ended the 14-month Israel-Hezbollah war, Israel was supposed to withdraw from all Lebanese territory by late January, while Hezbollah agreed to end its armed presence south of the Litani River.

Sanjiv Goenka memes flood internet again after Rishabh Pant flop show
Sanjiv Goenka and Rishabh Pant

NEW DELHI: Rishabh Pant’s struggles with the bat continued as he fell cheaply once again, this time against the Mumbai Indians at Wankhede Stadium on Sunday.
Pant managed just four runs off two balls before playing a poor shot that ended his stay. Trying a risky reverse sweep off Will Jacks, he mistimed it completely and handed an easy catch to Karn Sharma at short third man.
Pant, captaining the Lucknow Super Giants this season, has found it tough going.

He has scored only 110 runs in 10 matches, with just one notable innings of 63 runs. With these numbers, Pant is staring at what could be his lowest IPL return since 2016.
After a strong comeback season last year, where he piled up 446 runs for Delhi Capitals, expectations were high, especially after LSG signed him for Rs 27 crore, making him the most expensive player in IPL history.
Pant’s failure triggered a wave of memes featuring Sanjiv Goenka, the LSG co-owner, across social media.
Meanwhile, Mumbai Indians put up a strong total of 215/7, thanks to explosive half-centuries from Ryan Rickelton (58 off 25) and Suryakumar Yadav (54 off 28).
Rickelton smashed the season’s fastest half-century for MI, while Suryakumar became the season’s highest scorer with 417 runs in 10 innings.

LSG’s bowlers struggled under the Mumbai heat and humidity, though Mayank Yadav and Avesh Khan managed two wickets each. Prince Yadav, Digvesh Rathi, and Ravi Bishnoi chipped in with a wicket apiece, but it wasn’t enough to halt MI’s charge.
With Pant’s form dipping and LSG’s playoff hopes in question, the pressure is clearly mounting — both on the field and across the internet.

'Virat Kohli and I have spoken about it so many times in last 5-6 years': KL Rahul opens up on IPL regret
Virat Kohli and KL Rahul (PTI Photo)

NEW DELHI: KL Rahul recently opened up about one of his biggest regrets in the IPL, the 2016 final loss with Royal Challengers Bangalore (now Royal Challengers Bengaluru) against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH).
Speaking on Star Sports, Rahul revealed that he and Virat Kohli have often discussed that heartbreak over the past five to six years.
Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW!
“Virat and I have spoken about it many times. If one of us had played a little longer and won that game, it would have been very different. And winning an IPL is so special. That 2016 season was very special for RCB. We were at the bottom of the table and had to win seven games in a row to qualify, and we did. We went on to win the eliminator and made it to the final,” Rahul recalled.
Chasing 209, RCB fell just eight runs short, finishing at 200 despite Kohli’s 54 off 35 balls and Rahul’s 11 off 9.
Rahul reflected on how close they were to scripting a fairy-tale ending. “If one of us had stayed longer, it could have been a very different story. Winning at home in Chinnaswamy would have been unforgettable,” he said.
Beyond the regret, Rahul spoke about how his time at RCB changed him as a cricketer. Having joined as a youngster, Rahul said he initially lacked belief in his white-ball skills. However, sharing a dressing room with legends like Kohli, AB de Villiers, and Chris Gayle had a massive impact on him.
“Watching how Virat, AB, and Chris trained and approached the game was the best learning experience. I picked up so much from them — from fitness to mental toughness,” Rahul said. He credited Kohli’s fitness journey for inspiring him to take training more seriously, which led to improved consistency across formats.

“From 2014-15 onwards, I started believing I could succeed in white-ball cricket too,” Rahul added, highlighting how RCB laid the foundation for his growth as an international cricketer.

Following their five-wicket win over Chennai Super Kings on Friday, the Sunrisers Hyderabad squad is headed to the Maldives for a quick retreat.
The Sunrisers Hyderabad social media team posted a 35-second video where the players can be seen enjoying their break in Maldives
The win at Chepauk has kept Sunrisers Hyderabad’s playoff hopes alive.
With the win, Sunrisers also ended their winless streak against Chennai Super Kings at Chepauk. Sunrisers Hyderabad’s next outing is on May 2 against Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Last year’s runners-up, Sunrisers, are currently languishing in eighth place with three wins in nine matches. To qualify for the playoffs, the Pat Cummins-led side can’t afford any hiccups and will have to win their next five games consecutively.
Who’s that IPL player?
Sunrisers Hyderabad coach Daniel Vettori said that working around their batting lineup and getting the matchups right with Kamindu Mendis in the mix served the team well against Chennai Super Kings.

Sachin Tendulkar at 52: Power, Pride, and a Nation’s Pulse

“That’s why the likes of Kamindu came into the team. That’s why there was the shuffle in the batting order, putting Heinrich Klaasen up and Nitish Kumar Reddy down, to give us a more balanced approach, particularly in a chase,” he said.

Poll

Do you think Sunrisers Hyderabad will qualify for the playoffs this season?

“The initial plan revolved around left-right-hand combinations, partly to counter Noor Ahmad and Ravindra Jadeja and how good they are through those middle stages.”
“A lot of the logic behind picking him (Mendis) was specific to this ground. We knew what sort of surface we’d encounter, and having a batsman who can play all types of spin, be aggressive, and hit a multitude of shots was the starting point,” he added.

'India will hunt down terror': Himanta Biswa Sarma slams Bilawal Bhutto's remarks after Pahalgam attack
Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma (File photo)

NEW DELHI: Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has responded strongly to Pakistani politician Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s anti-India statements, declaring that India will “hunt down terror” following the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam.
Responding to Bhutto Zardari’s comments after the Pahalgam terrorist attack, Sarma referenced a video clip pointing to Pakistan’s violent history, which cost Bilawal his grandfather and mother. “Pakistan has a long and bloody history of betrayal — it claimed the lives of Bilawal Bhutto’s grandfather and mother. It is tragic that an unworthy son today chooses to dishonor their sacrifice. I extend my deepest condolences to him in advance, for the path he has chosen will only bring disgrace,” Sarma wrote in a post on X.
He added, “Let it be absolutely clear — no one can deter India from taking decisive action to safeguard its honour and people.”
Bilawal’s family history includes his mother, former Pakistan Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, who was assassinated, and his grandfather, former PM Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, who was executed by Pakistani authorities.
Sarma also said that India is committed to responding firmly in defense of its dignity and citizens, under PM Modi. “Under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, India will hunt down terror and eliminate terror infrastructure wherever it exists,” he said.
On the matter of the Indus Waters Treaty, Sarma stated, “India’s national security is non-negotiable. The waters of the Indus are ours — and they will remain ours, unchallenged and eternal.”
India has officially notified Pakistan of the immediate suspension of the Indus Waters Treaty, citing Pakistan’s violations of the agreement. India’s Secretary of Water Resources, Debashree Mukherjee, informed her Pakistani counterpart, Syed Ali Murtaza, that Pakistan’s ongoing cross-border terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir violates India’s rights under the treaty.
This comes after terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam claimed the lives of 26 people. The Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS), led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, convened to address the gravity of the attack. Following deliberations, the committee reached a significant decision regarding the Indus Water Treaty of 1960. The treaty will be suspended with immediate effect and shall remain so until Pakistan “credibly and irrevocably abjures its support for cross-border terrorism,” announced India.
